Rep. Severin and Fellow Southern Illinois House Republicans Sponsor Summer Reading Program for Elementary Students

BENTON – State Rep. Dave Severin (R-Benton) is excited to announce the start of the 2021 “Once Upon a Time” Summer Reading Program for students in 1st through 4th grades in coordination with his fellow southern Illinois House Republican legislators.

“This year, I’m excited to once again sponsor my summer reading program for elementary students in 1st through 4th grades,” Severin said. “I’m encouraging students to make a special effort to include reading in their summer activities. I love to read. Reading for enjoyment is very healthy for children and adults. This year I’m joining with my colleagues Rep. Patrick Windhorst and Rep. Paul Jacobs offering some great prizes that we know students will be excited to earn.”

Students in 1st through 4th grade that read 8 books this summer will be eligible for an official Certificate of Congratulations from the Illinois House of Representatives, a coupon for a free small custard, and one free ticket to a Southern Illinois Miners baseball game at Rent One Park in Marion on Friday, August 6th, 2021.

Students that reside in the 115th, 117th, and 118th districts are eligible to participate. A printable form can be found here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1aK8pmoaursNzGW1c70AA0B9UizqCQyoG/view?usp=sharing
