Rep. Severin Announces DCEO Infrastructure and Housing Rehab Grant Funds for Local Communities

BENTON – State Rep. Dave Severin (R-Benton) is notifying multiple local government units in the 116th legislative district that they have been awarded grant funding through the Illinois Dept. of Commerce and Economic Opporunity (DCEO). The grant funds come from DCEO’s Community Development Block Grant Public Infrastructure and Housing Rehabilitation programs. Public infrastructure grants are designed to provide communities with funding to improve public infrastructure and eliminate conditions detrimental to public health, safety, and public welfare.

DCEO awarded the following public infrastructure grants to communities in Rep. Severin’s district.

  • City of Benton – $1,198,480
  • Village of Nason – $1,500,000

DCEO also awarded grants for housing rehabilitation to the following communities.

  • City of Benton – $650,000
  • City of Sesser – $650,000

“Southern Illinois communities will benefit greatly from these badly needed grant funds,” Severin said. “I am thankful that financial resources are making their way to communities that I represent to help take pressure off local taxing bodies and local property taxpayers.”
