SPRINGFIELD – State Rep. Dave Severin announced this week that he hosted Enfield’s own EmmaLee “Emmy” Williams to Springfield for a House Republican sponsored “Emerging Women Leaders” conference.
The annual conference brings together influential women rising in their communities from across the State of Illinois for recognition and breakout informational sessions.
“I was honored that Emmy Williams, the founder of WP Meat Company in Enfield, was able to share her story of hard work and success with other women leaders from throughout the State of Illinois,” Rep. Severin said. “She’s creating jobs, she’s leading her community, Emmy is a great example to anyone that works hard to follow their dreams, be their own boss, and make the world around them a better place.”
WP Meat Company is located in Enfield, Illinois. WP Meat Company originally opened as Enfield Slaughter Plant. In 2007, under new ownership, the plant was renamed to Enfield Packing Plant. In 2023, the plant was purchased by Emmy (Pruitt) Williams, and renamed to WP Meat Company.
“We are so much more than just a packing plant,” Williams said. “We are truly a meat company. We raise and process the meat ourselves making it a true farm to table experience.”
Williams thanked Rep. Severin for the experience she had in Springfield.
“It was great to share my story and to hear from so many successful women leaders from throughout the state. I was inspired by stories of hard work, hard times, and ultimately, success,” Williams said. “I want to thank Rep. Dave Severin for inviting me to participate in the 2024 Emerging Women Leader’s Conference in Springfield, and I hope to inspire other women leaders to get involved in their communities and to work hard to achieve their dreams.”
