Severin Attends Illinois Manufacturer’s Association “Makers Madness” Awards – Honors Continental Tire on Making the “Sweet 16”

SPRINGFIELD, IL…. State Representative Dave Severin recently attended the Illinois Manufacturer’s Association “Makers Madness” Award ceremony in Springfield. The “Makers Madness” competition highlights outstanding Illinois companies and the manufacturing jobs and products made by Illinois manufacturers.

“This year, Mt. Vernon’s own Continental Tire was nominated, and made it to the “Sweet 16” of the “Coolest Thing Made in Illinois” for its Continental Truck tire,” Severin said. “I am proud to represent Jefferson County, the city of Mt. Vernon, and the hard working men and women of Continental Tire as State Representative. We are blessed to have such an economic powerhouse in our region.”

The ultimate winner of the competition was the Komatsu Mining Truck. According to the IMA’s website, the Komatsu Mining Truck is a, “Leading maker of construction, mining, forestry, and industrial heavy equipment in Peoria, the truck is a rugged, large capacity vehicle used for construction and mining.”
