Rep. Severin Reminds Summer Readers of Reading Club Deadline

BENTON – State Representative Dave Severin (R-Benton) is reminding incoming first through fourth grade students of this Friday’s deadline to complete and return forms to participate in his 2024 “Oceans of Possibilities” summer reading program. Students reading 8 books this summer and returning their forms to Rep. Severin’s office by the Friday deadline will be invited to a FREE pool party at the Mt. Vernon Aquatic Zoo on Tuesday, August 6th, 2024. Details will be provided to students and parents/guardians upon submission of completed forms.

“I’m thrilled to sponsor this year’s ‘Oceans of Possibilities’ Summer Reading Program. I look forward to this event every year. I love encouraging students to keep reading during their summer break and to give them some incentive to do so,” Severin said. “We will have a great time hosting a pool party for the students who successfully participate in the program. I welcome all incoming 1st through 4th graders in the 116th district to participate!”

Representative Dave Severin’s Oceans of Possibilities Magic summer reading club challenges 1st through 4th graders to read 8 books during their summer break. Books for local library programs are also acceptable and books over 150 pages may count for 2 books. Once a student completes reading 8 books, a parent or guardian can verify that the books were read by submitting their summer reading form through the mail to 303 N. Main Street, Benton, IL 62812. Students can inquire about the program by calling (618) 440-5090 or by emailing Severin@ILHouseGOP.org.
