BENTON – State Representative Dave Severin is encouraging his constituents to consider donating to an ongoing gently used shoe drive taking place in Mount Carmel. The 2024 Safe Haven Shoe Drive is operating in order to help fund Safe Haven Homeless Shelter of Mount Carmel.
“If you are able, I would encourage anyone to donate gently used shoes to this great cause,” Severin said. “The shoes that are donated are sent to developing nations where they are sold in support of microenterprises. This is a good way to clean out your closet, support a great cause, and provide local monetary support for Safe Haven’s efforts to combat homelessness and provide resources to homeless individuals.”
Severin says he will be collecting shoes to give to the drive at each of his district offices. Severin’s Benton District Office is located at 303 N. Main Street and can be reached at 618-440-5090 and Severin’s Mt. Vernon office is located at 2929 Broadway, Suite 3, and can be reached at 618-472-8158. Severin can also be reached by email at Severin@ILHouseGOP.org.
