Severin: House GOP Walks Out on Democrats’ Trump Tantrum

SPRINGFIELD, IL – State Rep. Dave Severin (R-Benton) joined with his House Republican colleagues on Wednesday evening in staging a walkout from the Illinois House Chamber, while House Democrats introduced multiple resolutions Severin described as a “Trump Temper Tantrum”. House Resolutions are non-binding, but often are drafted to reflect the attitude of the House of Representatives on a variety of issues.

“The Resolutions brought forward this week by House Democrats signal to me that they are more interested in playing political games and throwing a fit over President Trump’s re-election than they are in solving the problems facing our citizens and working families,” Severin said. “I was not going to be a pawn in their game or a witness to their tantrum, so I joined my House Republican colleagues in walking out of the chamber and going straight to the media to call them out for their childish and unproductive behavior.”

State Representative John Cabello spoke out on behalf of House Republicans in a news conference held on the first floor of the State Capitol. Cabello’s remarks can be seen in the video below.
