Severin: Illinois’ Pro Illegal Immigration Policies Cost Taxpayers Billions

By now, we’ve all become aware of the millions of illegal immigrants that the Biden administration allowed to pour into this country over the last four years.

If you have ever wondered, “How does this impact me?”, let’s take a look at how much of your tax money has been spent on illegal immigration over the last three years.

From a fiscal perspective, illegal immigration has cost Illinois taxpayers billions of dollars and taken critically needed funding away for social services programs for Illinois citizens.

The State of Illinois provides better healthcare benefits for illegal immigrants than most Illinois families receive. In fact, on Governor JB Pritzker’s watch, over $3 billion has been spent on services for migrants and illegal immigrants, while services for our most vulnerable citizens remain chronically underfunded and underserved.

The Democrats’ sanctuary state policy has cost Illinois taxpayers billions and made our communities less safe.

House Republicans have filed legislation to repeal Illinois’ TRUST Act, a misguided law that prohibits our local law enforcement agencies from working with federal authorities to detain and deport illegal immigrants. It’s time to end Illinois’ sanctuary state policy!

With over half-a-million illegal immigrants in Illinois, we should be working with federal authorities to deport dangerous criminal aliens.

Illinois is facing a billion-dollar budget deficit. Rather than end welfare programs for illegal immigrants, the Democrats’ solution is to raise your taxes to pay for their wasteful spending.

Progressive Democrats have proposed billions of dollars in tax hikes – all to pay for taxpayer-funded benefits for illegal immigrants, more pork projects for political insiders, and all sorts of wasteful spending.

These tax hikes will further damage our economy and drive up the tax burden and cost of living for Illinois families.

I will continue to fight for immigration reform and a state budget that prioritizes the needs of Illinois working families and seniors over illegal immigrants.
