BENTON – State Representative Dave Severin (R-Benton) is joining with the Illinois Housing Development Authority to announce grant awards to local communities through IHDA’s “Strong Communities Program”.
“I am pleased to announce grant funding totaling more nearly $200,000 will make its way to the 117th district to help the communities of West Frankfort and Sesser provide safe affordable housing for their residents,” Severin said. “The grant funding should be seen as an investment in the future beautification, construction, and maintenance of quality, affordable housing in southern Illinois. This is welcome news at a critical time in our State’s history.”
When the funding is released, West Frankfort will receive $145,300 and the city of Sesser will receive $50,000. The funding can be used to build new housing, maintain or remodel current infrastructure, or demolish properties that have become blighted.
