Every year, the Illinois House and Senate join with Constitutional officers and members of the Associated Firefighters of Illinois at the Illinois State Capitol for a ceremony that honors the life, service, and sacrifice of firefighters in Illinois that have given their lives in the line of duty. Each year, the names of those firefighters that have passed in the previous year are read. This year, there were no new names added to that list. That is a good thing!
However, we still take time to offer our thanks and prayers to the families of those firefighters that have gone on before. Today, a beautiful ceremony was held to honor these brave heroes.
