SPRINGFIELD – State Rep. Dave Severin (R-Benton) expressed optimism this week after the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO) announced the launch of the Blue Collar Jobs Act Tax Credit. Rep. Severin was a co-sponsor of HB 3373 in the 101st General Assembly. Severin says the law makes $20 million in tax credits available every year for eligible companies that employ construction workers.
“The implementation of the Blue Collar Jobs Act is a long time coming, and much needed in this state,” Severin said. “I’m proud to have worked hard to demand that we properly incentivize large capital investments in communities throughout the State of Illinois.”
Severin says eligible companies can receive tax credits equal to 75 percent of the income tax attributable to construction workers on eligible projects located in an underserved area, or 50 percent for projects located in other areas. The Blue Collar Jobs Act further incentivizes major capital investments in communities across Illinois and creates good-paying construction jobs.
“I am sincerely hopeful that the grants supported by the Blue Collar Jobs Act will bring good paying jobs to Illinois and send a signal that the state supports small business owners and hard-working construction and manufacturing labor,” Severin said.
