MT. VERNON – State Senator Terri Bryant (R-Murphysboro) and State Representative Dave Severin (R-Benton) joined officials from the city of Mount Vernon and Jefferson County for an event celebrating the coming arrival of Manner Polymers to the King City. The legislators were on hand for an event featuring the governor and lieutenant governor, officials from the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity, and the owners of the McKinney, Texas-based polymer maker.
“As the 58th district State Senator, I truly feel that the city of Mt. Vernon is a special place filled with talented, special people,” Bryant said. “I greatly appreciate the faith that Manner Polymers is placing in the city and the region, and look forward to the economic development and good-paying jobs that will come as a result of the company’s investment in the city of Mount Vernon.”
Rep. Severin echoed Senator Bryant’s optimism and says he believes southern Illinois is well-situated for even more economic developments.
“We’ve got rail, we’ve got highways and waterways, we’ve got an educated workforce, and we’ve got hard-working people,” Severin said. “This is an area that is ripe to start to grow by leaps and bounds. The investment being made by Manner Polymers in the city of Mt. Vernon will bear fruit because the city is doing all it can to support the growth of good-paying jobs and industrial growth in our region.”
Manner Polymers is one of North America’s largest flexible PVC compounders serving a broad range of markets including automotive, appliance, construction, telecommunications, industrial, medical, and agriculture. Its new 80,000-square-foot facility will feature the most advanced manufacturing control systems available, with production expected to commence in the fall of 2025. Once in full operation, the new facility will increase the company’s production capacity by 100 million pounds.
Manner Polymers’ new state-of-the-art Illinois facility will manufacture a wide array of PVC compounds, including automotive PVC compounds for use in electric vehicles (EVs) and components for solar panels. The facility will be powered by a 15-acre solar field located on the site.
