Severin: Pritzker Doubles Down on Failed and Costly Sanctuary State Law

BENTON, IL – State Representative Dave Severin (R-Benton) issued the following statement after Governor JB Pritzker’s appearance before a hearing of the US House of Representatives Oversight & Accountability Committee investigating Sanctuary State laws on Thursday.

“What is clear to me is that JB Pritzker is determined to keep Illinois a Sanctuary State, and that policy will continue to cause major problems for public safety and billions more dollars of taxpayer money to be spent. Illinoisans have already forked over more than $3 billion in taxpayer funds in cash, housing, and medical coverage to support illegal immigrants who are drawn here by our Sanctuary State law.

“I have long sponsored legislation that would repeal Illinois’ TRUST Act, so that we can restore the rule of law in our state and stop the madness of the Biden Open Borders Policy. We need borders, or we don’t have a country. I applaud our US House Republicans for holding Gov. Pritzker, Gov. Walz, and Gov. Hochul’s feet to the fire and exposing them for the radical liberals that they are.”
